Ethiopian Inspired Activities for kids

My daughter loves everything about Easter, from the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs to the feasting and celebration during Fasika (the Ethiopian/Eritrean Orthodox easter celebrated a week after Western Easter). We had made easter eggs during Easter but for Fasika we thought it'd be fun to still do easter eggs but decorate them with Ethiopian letters, symbols and motifs and of course the usual hearts and stars as well.

How to make Ethiopian inspired Easter Eggs:
Boil Eggs and let them cool. For decoration you can use rubber bands, stickers and crayons.

Mix a cup of hot water, table spoon of vinegar and food coloring.

Next, place the eggs into the dye mixture and leave there for 20 minutes. Once the eggs are the color and saturation you like, remove them from the dye.

Then remove stickers and rubber band to expose patterns.

You can add more detail and go over patterns using paint as well.

ENJOY!!!
